Explore Your Environment
Young people in Heywood, Rochdale and Pennines Townships have been enjoying learning about their local environment this winter.
it is a tough time for wild birds so the feeders made by St Margarets and Milnrow Brownies, Heybrook Children’s Centre Families and Sparth Community Centre After School Club will have been a great help. Follow the tweet to find out more https://twitter.com/RochdaleCouncil/status/958988517874552833
The feedback we got from the children was “messy”but also “awesome”!!!
Other Explore Your Environment eco-activities have included seasonal decorations, mini-beast homes, pond dipping & bird nesting socks. We are also hoping that some groups from Heywood will soon be piloting a fun activity developed for Queen’s Park created as part of the project with funding from Heywood Township. Using photo clues and a new Explore Your Environment(EYE) map to find fascinating features hidden around the park, this EYESpy Heritage Trailis a first step into map reading and orienteering. Similar activities are being created for Balderstone and Hare Hill Parks (thanks to funding from Rochdale and Pennines Township respectively). Once finished, the new trail activities will be available as free downloads.
