Our Forest Schools sessions are a unique learning experience offering a chance to explore and enjoy Rochdale’s precious woodlands. Learning to respect and look after the woods is core to Forest Schools
What does a Forest School session involve & what are the costs
Most of Forest School sessions are half day/ 2 hours and work best with approx. 15 children. Forest School Programmes involve booking multiple sessions over a set period of time, in which children build confidence and skills including use of tools, fire etc, this could be one day a week or one day per month/term etc. Forest School Tasters are stand alone sessions and are usually specialised themes or tailored to fit schools aims and objectives.
So, depending on the numbers in your group and time available, we will tailor sessions and or create a programme timetable for your visit with a selection of activities. This may include more than 1 facilitators and / or the option of a teacher-led activity where we would provide full instructions and all the equipment needed. Prices start from £125.00 per half day including insurance, site and activity risk assessments, planning, equipment and materials, all staff are FS level 3 qualified with enhanced DBS and current safeguarding qualifications.
Activities will be tailored to meet the learning needs and age of the group & fit in with the available time.
Splitting into small groups enables children to get the most out of their visit and also has the
advantage of lessening the environmental impact on a given area.
A programme of activities allows children to build confidence and skills over a period of time adding value to the learning experience.
Group leaders are responsible for ensuring adequate ratio of staff to supervise each subgroup.
